A Culpeper native, Missy Norris White is a qualified, diligent and dedicated Republican, who is ready to serve as Culpeper’s next Treasurer. For the past 13 years, Missy has dedicated her career to the citizens of Culpeper County by working as the Chief Administrative/Financial Officer of the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office (‘CCSO’), the 3rd largest department in Culpeper County, with a staff of over 130 employees and a budget of over $11 million. Missy’s commitment to the community, as well as her private and public sector experiences make her an ideal candidate for Culpeper County Treasurer.
Missy was born and raised in Culpeper County. She is the daughter of George and Cindy Norris, who are also lifelong Culpeper residents, and sister of Kiley Norris Hitt, a current teacher in the Culpeper Public School System. Missy’s husband, Nick White, has spent his career in public service and is currently serving as a Captain with the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office. Missy is the proud mother of Gaige Robson, a rising Freshman at Eastern View High School and product of Culpeper’s Public School System.
Missy graduated from Culpeper County High School in 1990 where she was a varsity athlete and active member of her student body serving as her Senior Class Treasurer and member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Students Against Drunk Driving. Missy obtained a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting, from the University of Mary Washington in 1994.
After completing her college education, Missy went on to manage the financial records for the law firm of Niles, Dulaney, Parker & Lauer, LLP for 2 years. Her responsibilities included financial statement preparation, billing, receivables, payables, payroll processing and payroll tax reporting.
For the next 10 years, Missy worked as an Accountant for Jefferson Homebuilders, Inc. She was primarily responsible for the collections of the receivables of multiple Culpeper Wood Preservers locations. She also performed additional accounting functions such as writing journal entries, financial statement preparation, bank reconciliations and daily review of the company’s investment lines.
For the past 13 years, Missy has dedicated her career to the citizens of Culpeper County by working as the Chief Administrative/Financial Officer of the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office. She is responsible for all financial functions of the Sheriff’s Office to include budget preparation and management, payroll management, approving and processing purchases for the department, monthly and annual certifications with the Virginia Compensation Board, grant management and reporting, as well as the collection and allocation of miscellaneous receipts. She also serves as the liaison between the Sheriff’s Office and other County Departments regarding payroll, personnel and IT related matters. She prides herself on the excellent working relationship she has developed over the years with the other Departments, specifically the County’s Finance Department.
Missy has invested countless hours in volunteering to help Culpeper continue to grow and thrive. She has served as co-chair for Germanna’s Monte Carlo Night, she has been a member of the annual Sheriff’s Golf Tournament committee and has spent hundreds of hours committed to shopping for and organizing Christmas for local children. Missy has coached youth sports, volunteered at Culpeper’s Heat Shelter and is currently serving on the SAFE Golf Tournament Committee.
